YOUth have the POWER!
This year’s One World Week theme is power. Understanding power in youth work is vital for the development of young people as they navigate their lives and society. One of the core values of youth work is empowerment.

BUILDING BACK BETTER: YOUTH, POWER AND PLANET
Building Back Better: One World Week development education and global citizenship education resource pack
Power is a multidimensional, complex force. It can be visible or invisible, and a negative or a positive force. It manifests itself in our private lives, in politics, in our culture, and even within us through internalised power dynamics.
This toolkit explores the issue of power and helps you make links to the Sustainable Development Goals.
It is designed for global educators, youth workers, development education practitioners, trainers, climate activists, changemakers of all shapes and sizes but in particular those working with the current generation of young people.
It was created by the NYCI Youth 2030 programme with the support of Irish Aid.
One World Week Training
This year’s free One World Week workshops are aimed at young people and youth workers and focus on the theme of ‘power’.
The workshops use non-formal development education methods to connect young people and youth workers with the theme, taking participants through key activities from this year’s One World Week resource.
On demand, subject to availability.
Peace, Justice, the Sustainable Developments Goals and YOUth!
One World Week is a week of youth-led awareness raising, education and action that takes place throughout Ireland every year. Young people and those who work with young people learn about local, national and global justice issues and take action to bring about positive change.
